    Back to Basics

    Getting started:

The first step, once you enter the game primarily is finding an ideal location for your new settlement! Things to have around you:
    • Plenty of Trees
    • Water
    • Clay
    • Rocky terrain
After you have found an ideal location you will need to start gathering supplies to make tools. This is simple and easy to do. You will need to collect the following to craft tools:

    • Plant fibers: Right click the ground -> Natures Lore - Collect Plant Fibers
    • Flintsones: Right click a rocky ground -> Prospecting -> Find useful Flintstones
    • Branches: Right click a Tree -> Forestry -> Snap a Branch Off

Collect a minimum of 10 of each!

To craft your tools: Press I, to open your inventory: Right click the Branches you snapped from teh trees -> Create Primitive Tool; This will open a new window with a drop down menu: You can now select the main tools to craft:

    • Primitive Axe: Forestry
    • Primitive Shovel: Terraforming
    • Primitive Saw: Carpentry
    • Primitive Pickaxe: Mining and Tunneling
    • Primitive sickle: Farming and Gathering
    • Primitive knife: Carpentry and Hunting
To equip the tools you just made: Press T on your keyboard and I to open your incentory. You can now drag the tools from your Inventory to your equipable slots on your character.

    Terraforming:

For a quick tutorial on how to Terraform, please watch this short video: Watch here

    Skills:

There are 5 main skill trees you can master, Press L to open the skill book window:
    • Smithing
    • Carpenter
    • Herbalist
    • Builder
    • Farmer
There is also the skill of Hunter, Piety, Jeweler and Artist, however they are singular skills with no advancing tree skills.
To level each up will require you to perform certain actions that allow you to "train" that skill. For example: If I wanted to increase my prospecting skill I would:
  • Search for useful Flintstones
  • Find Sling Ammo
  • Prospect for useful metal ores
  • After each action is performed you will notice on your skill page or system log on the chat window that you have started gaining skill points.
In order to advance to the next skill in your tree, you will need to have a skill level of 30 in the pre-requied skill. This will only open up the next skill, you will need level 60 in your pre-required skill to train your next skill to 60. For example If I am farming and I want animal lore, I will need my farming to be at level 30 to open animal lore up. But If I try to level Animal Lore up I will not get past 29.99. I will need farming to be at 60 before I can level my Animal lore up past 29.99.

    Stamina, Health, Hunger and Alignment:

you will notice once you enter the game you have a set of coloured bars: These are your Health bar (Red), Stamina bar (Green), Hunger bar (Yellow) and Alignment bar (Clear)
Stamina and Health: Both of these skills have Hard and Soft Levels:
    • Soft HP and Soft Stamina: IF you run out of Soft HP you will be KO'd (knocked out), if you lose all soft stamina you will not able to move very far.
    • Hard HP and Hard Stamina: IF you run out of Hard HP you will die, if you lose all available Hard stamina it will take longer to regain any stamina at all.
Hunger bar: This yellow bar shows you the hunger of your character, if it is at 99 he/she is full and cannot consume any-more food. If it is 0 however, you will need to consume food to return it to 99. Being well fed helps regain Hard/Soft HP and Stamina.
Alignment: This bar is by default 0, Alignment in game tells you how "bad" you are.If you knock people out in game your Alignment will drop below 0 and enter the negative numbers. you will only reach -49. IF for any reason you kill someone, you will exceed -49 and enter the -50's, once you enter -50 you are PERMENANTLY marked as a criminal. This means you cannot get back to a stable alignment of 0 or above. If you are killed with Negative alignment you will lose a lot of skill points: Those who exceed -50 will lose between 50-200 skill points.

    Stats:

Stats define how well your character engages in Skills and combat. Pressing P on your Keyboard will open the Character attributes window.
You will see a list of Attributes:
    • Strength
    • Agility
    • Constitution
    • Willpower
    • Intellect
    These stats govern your character:
    • Strength governs how hard you hit and your Inventory space size.
    • Agility governs how fast you move
    • Constitution governs your Health points
    • Willpower governs your Stamina points
    • Intellect governs your Skill cap and level of skill gain
Leveling each appropirately will make your character effective in both their profession and combat. To see what skill levels up each Stat, press L for your skill book and look at the right hand panel, below where it shows your current skill points. It will list a primary and Secondary stat effected. By doing the actions in that skill you will level up your stats.
